Samsung Galaxy Pro – A More Traditional Android Smartphone?

Keyboard, screen, nice.

My first modern smartphone was a Nokia E63.  The keyboard beneath the screen in a portrait design appealed to me and was great to use.  Now if only the E63 hadn’t suffered crippling constant apparently causeless reboots.  Anyways that’s besides the point.  Today I stumbled across an Engadget post about a new Samsung Android phone that appeals to the more traditional smartphone user in me.

The guts of the Samsung Galaxy Pro aren’t staggering, rocking an 800MHz processor of unrevealed origin, but the Wildfire has shown me that Android can be very well at home on lower-spec hardware – the 500MHz CPU of the Wildfire has yet to disappoint me.  There’s a standard auto-focus camera but the images of the Pro look like there’s no LED light / flash (which is a shame – a phone flashlight is always useful).

Turning up on at least the Three network I’ll be keen to see how this one plays out and am pleased to see some more flexible Android designs appearing.  This one could really appeal to the ‘damnit I just want real buttons on a phone’ crowd.
