Wonderful, terrifying, oddity in this news piece. OK, so Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS) makes use of the microphone to let you ‘play’ the title instrument to trigger in-game events. Pretty much like the Ocarina in Link’s first N64 outing. Worryingly, though, Sickr alikens this to playing the ‘flute’ in the Ocarina of Time. Moving on then
Will there won’t there be HD Wii? Reggie of Nintendo of America made it very clear that HD is not the way forward for the Wii / Nintendo yet Edge reports Nintendo being positively, well, uncertain on the whole matter. It’s fair to say that when the Wii came out going the non-HD route was the right bet – it kept costs down meaning the Wii launched at a competitive price and let Nintendo actually make a profit. Staying out of the high definition realm now it has become a standard seems foolhardy though. The Wii looks, at best, OK on 1080p screen. It should be assume that Nintendo’s next console will be HD – Nintendo like to make money and know that consumers, rightly or not, will expect it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 come out – big whoop. Sorry – just not that interested in another war-based shooter. Nothing against the game or the genre, just prefer something more inventive. AAANWAY.. that’s not the point. The point I’m getting at is the whiney soul that the BBC gave a platform on which to bemoan being booted off Xbox Live. So, Raz, you chipped your Xbox to play copied / pirated games and attempt to justify this by claiming all games come out at £50. To you, sir, I advise you follow @FrugalGaming on Twitter or nosey http://hotukdeals.com/ and you’ll never spend £50 on a game again! Thankfully anyone that reads the uncommonly poor article from the BBC comes to the conclusion that ‘Raz’ is an idiot. Short version of the story – if you are going to mod your console and play pirated games don’t cry when the console manufacture punishes you for this breaking of law. Just be thankful that booting you off Xbox Live is all Microsoft chose to do!
That wraps up the first iCookies Digest – a desire to fire up the DSi a little more tonight and the impending, inevitable, need for sleep draws this experiment in drawing together a few news snippets that caught our eye to an end for tonight.

As anyone paying attention to the twitter feed may have noticed I was grabbed by a Storm Trooper and made to express my love for the Empire around London Expo 2008 on Saturday. They filmed my humiliation.

Nintendo’s nemisis, The Homebrew Channel, has overcome the latest firmware updates to be able to work on even the shiniest and nost up to date Wii. Good times if you’re into dabblimg in Wii development or enjoying the fruits of said dabbling. What caught my attention was the SDHC card reading compatibility the latest version on The Homebrew Channel adds, meaning that the card reader in the Wii is not, as some suspected, technically limited to old style 2GB limited cards.
With luck Nintendo may, in the end, give up the ability to add up to 32GB of storage. Best be getting stocked up on Wii points
