Friday saw the DSi make a break for the UK shops, good times! So what did Twitter think?
No DSi for any of us at iCookies (for shame!) so I had a potter around Twitter so see how people were finding their shiny new toys (hurrah for search.twitter.com). The early response was universally positive – well apart from one soul who used their DSi to get £145 trade in in-store.
We all know what’s new and different with the DSi – the bigger screens, download content, beefier CPU – but the main buzz was centring around the camera and the free Opera web browser.
@isthatmyhedge: the browser is infinitely better than the original DS browser. Loads most pages under 30 sec. Easy-to-type keyboard
There were a fair few twits along the lines of ‘twitting from my DSi’ and ‘writing this from my new DSi’. So the browser’s getting some love. But how does it handle actual web pages? Well courtesy of @buffyc we have the first exclusive photos of this very website loaded up on the DSi! Exciting times!
Hop over to @buffyc’s flickr page to see a few more.
I’ve seen a couple of example of photos taken by the DSi floating around. They weigh in at 1024×768 resolution and appear to be around the image quality of the average camera phone. So nothing amazing, not that we expected much, but not bad all the same. Nothing to ditch a camera for but certainly more than good enough for some fun in-game use.
The DSi’s new features seem to be well received but aren’t enough to warrant the spend on my part yet. In totally unrelated news any donations to iCookies will be gladly received
